Short walk on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro
Ndoro waterfall is situated in the foothills of Kilimanjaro Mountain. The water source of this river comes directly from the glacier on top of Kilimanjaro. Impressive, green areas where most fantastic trees and exotic plants grow. About 40-minutes drive from Moshi town to Marangu, while on the way you will have a very nice view of Mount Kilimanjaro if the sky is clear enough to see.
Marangu ward is a beautiful countryside surrounded by lush landscapes which it’s a place where you will find this hidden waterfall.
Ndoro Waterfall is one of the most popular and largest waterfalls in Marangu area. One hour walk from a small and friendly town of Marangu, descending through the stunning green landscapes of Chagga land will bring you to this huge waterfall, here you will have the opportunity to stand underneath the waterfall, walking through the stones in the river and go swimming in the refreshing water and have a well-deserved break for lunch in the beautiful valley. The word “Marangu” means a place with too many water streams. This is one of the most popular places in Tanzania.
It is beautiful, and a relatively simple walk through the tropical rain forest that grows on the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. On your way to Ndoro waterfalls you are likely to come across a number of attractive flowering plant species, tropical birds with beautiful feathers, also if you are lucky enough you will get to see a different kind of primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, and other small mammals, reptiles and insects.
Transportation will be provided by bus or a private car from your starting point to Marangu. The duration of the trip is approximately five to six hours.
