Your Kilimanjaro climbing adventure begins after breakfast at your hotel in Moshi. You will meet your mountain guide and drive towards Londorossi Gate, located on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you will complete the park registration formalities while your mountain crew prepares the equipment for your expedition.

After registration, you will continue by vehicle to the Lemosho trailhead, where your trek begins. Today's walk takes you through a beautiful and relatively untouched tropical rainforest, characterized by towering trees, thick vegetation, colourful wildflowers and the sounds of mountain wildlife.

The trail gradually ascends through the forest, offering a peaceful introduction to the mountain. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and other forest wildlife along the way.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

After breakfast, you will leave the rainforest behind and continue ascending towards the beautiful Shira Plateau. The trail gradually opens into heath and moorland, where the dense forest gives way to giant heathers, open grasslands and unique high-altitude vegetation.

Today's trek is relatively long as you cross the western slopes of Kilimanjaro and gradually gain altitude. Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, with Mount Kibo becoming increasingly visible as you approach the Shira Plateau.

As you continue across this remarkable volcanic landscape, you will experience the vastness and beauty of one of Kilimanjaro's most impressive geographical features. Weather permitting, the views of the mountain's snow-capped summit provide wonderful photographic opportunities.

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp (3,960m)

After breakfast, you will leave Shira 2 Camp and continue trekking eastwards across the spectacular alpine landscape towards Lava Tower. Today's route takes you through a semi-desert environment, with impressive views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic formations and rugged mountain terrain.

As you gradually ascend, you will reach Lava Tower (approximately 4,630m), one of the most recognizable landmarks on Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, you will stop for lunch and spend some time at higher altitude before beginning your descent towards Barranco Camp.

This climb-high, sleep-low approach is an important part of altitude acclimatization, helping your body gradually adjust to the increasing elevation.

After approximately 6–8 hours of trekking, you will descend into the beautiful Barranco Valley, arriving at Barranco Camp (3,960m). Surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and the impressive Barranco Wall, this is one of the most picturesque campsites on the mountain.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m)

After breakfast, you will leave Karanga Camp and continue ascending towards Barafu Camp, your final base camp before attempting the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Today's trail passes through a dry alpine desert characterized by rocky terrain, sparse vegetation and increasingly dramatic mountain scenery. Although the distance is relatively short, the altitude makes it important to maintain a slow and steady walking pace.

As you approach Barafu Camp (4,673m), you will enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding landscape, including the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Upon arrival, your mountain crew will prepare lunch or an early dinner, depending on the schedule.
